Organized by the Ridgefield Bicycle Sports Club and sponsored by the Ridgefield Recreation Center, the fourth annual Ridgefield Kids Duathlon will feature three age group races of a run-bike-run sequence, all taking place at Ridgefield Parks & Recreation, Ridgefield, Connecticut. Age groups are 4-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 co-ed. The course is closed to cars. All racers and spectators must enter the park by 8:45 am and cars cannot depart the park until the final race is complete. Race date is Sunday, June 11, 2017, 9 am.
All races take place on the grounds of the Ridgefield Parks & Recreation.
The entire course will be closed to traffic.
Ages 4-6: 100-yard run, 250-yard bike, 100-yard run Ages 7-8 and 9-10: 1/3-mile run, 1-mile bike, 1/3-mile run. Ages 11-12 and 13-14: 2/3-mile run, 2-mile bike, 2/3-mile run. There will be a transition area where racers transfer from foot to bike and back to foot. Certain portions of the bike path will be clearly designated as No Passing Zones. Passing in these areas will result in immediate disqualification.
The 7-8 and 9-10 groups will race together, as will the 11-12 and 13-14, but awarded in separate catagories.
The Ridgefield Kids Duathlon is a USAT santioned race. We must go by the USAT Age Group Rules. Please note the race age guidelines.
USAT Race Age Guidelines:
If a racer is 6 on June 11, but turns 7 anytime between June 12 and Dec. 31, 2017, they are considered race age 7. They must race in the 7-8 category.
If a racer is 12 on June 11, but turns 13 anytime between June 12 and Dec. 31, 2017, they are considered 13 for the race. They must race in the 13-14 category.

Entry gets individuals into the competion, which will be professionally timed with posted results. Each racer will also receive a race T-shirt. All racers must be an annual member of USA Triathlon (USAT), which provides sanctioning and insurance for the race. For those under 17, annual membership is $10. This fee is in addition to the race fee.
Ridgefield Parks & Recreation will have the Bouncy House available for all participants!
Parking is available for spectators of all participants at Parks & Recreation at 195 Danbury Road, Ridgefield. To be allowed into the park, cars must arrive by 8:45 am and cars cannot depart the park until the final race has ended around 11 am.

Proceeds of the Ridgefield Kids' Duathlon will benefit the Ridgefield Special Olympics Team.
